Parsons Kansas is located in the northern part of Labette County. It is the most populous city of Labette County, and it is the second most populous city in the southeastern region of Kansas. |
In 2006 Downtown Parsons was awarded the Great American Main Street Award for its successful efforts in revitalizing its downtown area through historic preservation. Parsons was one of only five cities receiving the 2006 award.

The first Parsons High School, costing $30,000, was built in 1893 at 26th and Main. Prior to this time high school classes were held in the 3rd ward school. The school offered a three year course with one year of post-graduate work. It was not until the early 1900's that it offered a full four year course.
